Cell Barrier : What is a Cell Barrier?

A Cell Barrier is an extremely thin region of static electric charge which lies along the interface of the positive and negative layers located in a photovoltaic cell. This barrier significantly inhibits the movement of electrons from one layer to the other layer, so that higher-energy electrons from one side will diffuse preferentially through it in one direction, thereby creating a current and thus a voltage across the cell is also created.
