The Outer Continental Shelf is also referred to as (OCS) . The submerged lands that extend from the outer-limit of the historic territorial sea (typically three miles) to some undefined outer limit. This is typically a depth of 600 feet. In the United States, this is the portion of the shelf that is under federal jurisdiction.
